On April 9, the 2009 Southern California Transportation and Logistics Summit will address key issues facing the Transportation and Logistics Industry in Southern California and the nation.
The event will be held in Ontario, Calif.
Issues to be examined include sustainability, the emerging green supply chain, workforce and economic stimulus, upcoming transportation regulations and potential government funding / stimulus to aid in industry compliance.
The event will bring together industry and governmental leaders to discover creative ways to benchmark green initiatives, enhance the workforce, increase productivity and successfully manage new and upcoming regulatory challenges. Additionally, suppliers, workforce professionals, educators and more will have an opportunity to learn about the world of transportation and logistics while connecting with the largest single gathering of transportation and logistics industry leaders in Southern California and beyond.
Keynote speakers include James Hebe, senior vice president Navistar International and former CEO of Freightliner, and Kevin Smith, chairman of Sustainable Supply Chain Consulting headquartered in North Kingstown, RI and former senior VP and corporate sustainability officer for CVS Caremark.
Vendor and technology showcases will include the Motorola Logistics Technology Showcase and the Meritor Wabco Drive and Ride Workshops where attendees can get behind the wheel of Class 8 tractor and trailer equipment and demo the latest in collision-safety technology.
The coalition of industry associations and agencies producing the event include the Distribution Management Association of Southern California, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, International Warehouse Logistics Association, Warehousing Education and Research Council, California Trucking Association, and the Inland Empire Transportation Council. Event Title Sponsors are Navistar International Corporation, Motorola, Meritor WABCO and the California State University Leonard Transportation Center.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
