Cadec Corp. of Londonderry, N.H., has released the Mobius TTS – what Cadec calls the most powerful onboard computer available.

The Mobius TTS runs the Windows CE operating system on an Intel StrongArm RISC processor and offers vehicle monitoring, automated DOT logs and fuel tax reporting and multiple communications options, including satellite, terrestrial or short range RF – which can integrate with the PPT 2700 handheld computer from Symbol Technologies of Holtsville, N.Y.
Symbol’s PPT 2700 includes built-in RF (radio frequency) communications over a LAN (local area network). That means a driver can be up to 1,000 feet from the truck and still send information to the Mobius instantly.
Depending on communications choices, the Mobius could, in turn, transmit data back to a terminal location.
In the case of the PPT 2700, that can include data from a built-in scanner or even a digitized consignee’s signature since the PPT 2700 features a touch screen that accepts input from a pen device.
The Mobius includes 12 channel GPS, audio capability, a hands-free speaker and plenty of input/output ports and memory expandable to an enormous 320 megabytes.
“We went to our customers, formed a customer council and asked them exactly what they would like to see in their future systems,” stated Les Dole, president and ceo of Cadec Corporation. “The result of the feedback is what Mobius TTS is today.”
