Freightliner Trucks announced its new business class M2e hybrid will be available this month for commercial application rentals at International Leasing Co., based in Seattle and Kent, Wash.
The hybrid was purchased for International Leasing Co.'s rental fleet, which is spec'd for a wide range of uses.
"Choosing the Freightliner business class M2e gives International Leasing Co., the opportunity to give our customers what they have asked for: best in class visibility, maneuverability and a diesel-electric hybrid power train that will drastically cut emissions while lowering fuel consumption by approximately 40 percent," said Todd Daniels, fleet manager for International Leasing.
The Class 6 truck features the Eaton medium-duty hybrid electric system and is a powerful performer built to reduce idling time which produces less noise, allowing for quieter loading and unloading in urban settings.
Freightliner's hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), which features a diesel engine coupled with an electric motor/generator and batteries, works in line with the engine and transmission, enabling operation with electric or diesel power either separately or together.
