Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire is sponsoring Stars & Stripes show truck events again this year.
The Stars & Stripes series is one of the most celebrated truck beauty competitions in the country, and will be held at four of the nation’s most notable truck events.
At each show, competitors and their crowd-pleasing trucks vie for top honors and cash prizes. Show categories include Best of Show Bobtail and Combination Awards, and the Competitor’s Choice Award for working trucks. The event also recognizes professional show trucks.
"All of the trucks at these events are best-in-show," said Don Darden, manager of marketing communications & advertising for Bridgestone/Firestone. "They are beautiful, impeccably maintained and outfitted with only the very best. It’s only natural that Bridgestone/Firestone’s truck and bus group sponsor the Stars & Stripes show truck events and we’re pleased to be part of the shows."
In addition to sponsoring the Stars & Stripes series (a Newport Communications program), competitors and show attendees will win gifts and prizes from the tire company.
Shows in 2004 include:
-- The Paul K. Young Memorial Championship at the Mid-America Trucking Show at Louisville, Ky.’s Fair & Exposition Center, March 20-22.
-- The Stars & Stripes event moves to Baltimore, Md. for the North American Truck Show, April 29-31.
-- The third event is The Truck Show in Las Vegas. Held inside the air-conditioned Las Vegas Convention Center, the event is June 10-12.
-- The final event is Truckerfest at the Alamo/Petro in Reno, Nev.,
Aug. 5-7. The highlight of this show is the Hot August Nights truck parade and cruise through downtown Reno, where a crowd of 200,000 cheers both the show trucks and classic automobiles.
