Bill Moon Scholarship Winners Announced
The NATSO Foundation has announced Bill Moon Scholarship Award winners for 2004
The NATSO Foundation has announced Bill Moon Scholarship Award winners for 2004.
Thanks to the generosity of the truckstop and travel plaza industry and its suppliers, the NATSO Foundation was able to increase the number of scholarships it awards to 12 in 2004, up from 5 in 2002 and 2003.
Each of the 12 candidates will receive $2,500 to assist with their college expenses.
The 2004 winners were:
Kimberly Barden, Petro Travel Center/Goetz Cos. Inc. (Cambria, Wis.)
Lauren Chrystal, TravelCenters of America (Vancouver, Wash.)
Jacqueline Cummings, TravelCenters of America (Mentor, Ohio)
Cole DeLaune, Love’s Country Stores & Travel Plaza (Jackson, Tenn.)
Dawna Maldonado, West Winns Truck Stop (Green River, Utah)
Brandi Ramsey, Gateway Travel Plaza (Bedford, Pa.)
Kay Simpson, Moasis Truck and Auto Center (Appleton, Wis.)
Alex Sleighter, Gateway Travel Plaza (Breezewood, Pa.)
Shaleen Wallace, Lee Hi Travel Plaza (Lexington, Va.)
Brett Warner, the Detroiter Travel Center (Trenton, Mich.)
Judy White, Muralt’s AMBEST Travel Plaza (Missoula, Mont.)
Nathan Williams, Petro Stopping Centers (Gold Hill, Ore.)
Since 1993, the NATSO Foundation has annually awarded Bill Moon Scholarships to industry employees and their children to help offset the cost of a college education. The scholarships are meant to recognize truckstop employees and their dependents who have shown academic excellence.
"The Bill Moon Scholarships allow the NATSO Foundation to recognize the achievements and nourish the dreams of those who represent the future of our industry," said NATSO Foundation Chairman Delia Moon Meier.
Applicants are judged by an independent review committee and selections are made based upon academic merit, extracurricular and community activities, and a short essay.
