BP Lubricants USA Inc. has narrowed the pool of contestants to three and attendees at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) will vote to determine which lucky owner-operator will receive the monumental $50,000 truck makeover.
The winner of the "Big Honkin' Truck Makeover" contest presented by Castrol Tection Extra will be chosen in this final round of voting from March 22-23 in Louisville, Ky. The results of the contest will be decided by trucking peers and the general public.
From now until Feb. 28, visitors to www.castrol.com/truckmakeover will be able to vote for their favorite entry online.
Those votes will be tallied and added to those collected at MATS. The grand prize winner will be announced on the final day of MATS, Saturday, March 24, at 7:45 a.m. at the Midnight Trucking Radio Network booth in South Wing Lobby A.
The winner announcement will be emceed by Midnight Trucking Radio Network host Eric Harley and include members of The Chrome Shop Mafia. Exciting giveaways will be available to those in attendance.
Ronny Robin from Belgrade, Minn.; Kevin Greene from Cincinnati, Ohio; and Bruce Faulk from Montgomery, Ala., were chosen as the finalists for the coveted $50,000 truck makeover grand prize. Their entries were judged on originality, creativity, relevance of essay to theme and photographic appeal.
The three finalists have 75 years of combined experience in the trucking industry and have driven more than four million miles in all 50 states.
Finalist Ronnie Robin had his first trucking experience at age 16 when he rode along with a friend, and he's been in the business ever since. Bruce Faulk's 1984 Kenworth has been maintained properly but lacks a professional look. His Kenworth has only missed 15 days on the road in 20 years due to maintenance, but the basic exterior look is starting to affect his business.
Kevin Greene considers his truck a vital piece of his success as an owner-operator and plans to drive his Peterbilt for many more years to come.
The winning truck will receive a $50,000 interior, exterior and communications makeover customized by The Chrome Shop Mafia, the big rig truck mechanics and stars of the Country Music Television (CMT) series "Trick My Truck." The makeover will include products from the following sponsors:
• 4 State Trucks/The Chrome Shop Mafia
• Continental Tire North America
• National Seating Company
• Alcoa Wheel Products
• Grote Industries
• Sirius Satellite Radio
• Delphi
• Your Truck Shop
• Midnight Trucking Radio Network
The runner-up and second prize winners will not walk away empty-handed. The runner-up will receive a five-day, four-night trip for two to the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas with $500 spending cash. The second prize winner will receive a $500 Best Buy Gift Card to be used towards electronics for their rig. All three winners will receive a year's supply of Castrol Tection Extra.
