Following yesterday's announcement that Innovative Computing Corporation would be acquired by TMW Systems, Ernie Betancourt, former president of ICC, is launching QuikQ, a new company that will bring a fuel management tool to the trucking industry.
The product, DFConnect, was sold to Epona, another privately held company controlled and operated by Betancourt.

DFConnect is a cardless direct fuel connection between carrier enterprise systems and truckstop point of sale systems. The new tool allows for separate purchase policies for the truck, driver and trailer, and interfaces with the carrier's own database as well as with all mobile communications systems. DFConnect automatically creates a purchase order when a request is received, and it maintains each event separately, including tractor fuel, trailer fuel and cash advance.

When using DFConnect, the driver only needs to enter the start code and PO at the fuel dispenser. In addition, DFConnect keeps track of fuel consumption and limits purchase orders based on consumption.

"I leave Innovative with mixed emotions," said Betancourt. "It's like seeing your child go off to college. But starting QuikQ brings back that entrepreneurial spirit that makes me tick."

Prior to leading the purchase of Innovative in 2001, Betancourt founded Trendar, a point of service provider to truckstops that was eventually sold to Comdata in 1995.
