Oct. 2 – The new Bering Truck Corp. offered a sneak preview of two new Class 3 and 4 truck models and announced its first dealer at the Southern Trucking Expo in Atlanta yesterday.
Bering, established last year, is manufacturing and importing a new line of Class 3-8 commercial trucks in partnership with Hyundai.
Jim Burgess, president of Central Truck Center, Landover, MD, has been named Bering’s first dealer. Burgess’ sales territory will encompass Washington, DC, and the immediate surrounding areas of Virginia and Maryland. He plans to sell and lease the Bering truck brands from a stand-alone dealership next to his existing one, where he offers several truck makes.
The new Class 3 and 4 models are the VT 12 and the VT 15, named to signify the gross vehicle weight of each model (12,000 and 15,000 pounds, respectively). The extended cabs of the new trucks are unique to cabovers in these weight classes, according to Bering.
Bering also announced that it has broken ground on its Front Royal, VA, assembly and manufacturing facility.
