Beautiful Trucks Winners At Walcott
More than 60 trucks entered the Super Truck Beauty Contest at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree in Walcott, Iowa, last week

Walcott Truckers Jamboree highlights: Trucker olympics, top left; antique trucks, top right; Super Truck Beauty Contest winners "Marooned," bottom left, and "Liquid Chicken," bottom right.
The contest was part of the annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree at the Iowa 80 truckstop on Interstate 80. Along with the contest, attendees enjoyed an antique truck display, barbecue pork dinners, exhibitor displays, live entertainment, carnival games, and trucker olympics such as tug-of-war and rolling a truck tire between two bales of hay.
Although the number of trucks in the contest was down somewhat from last year, organizer Heather DeBaillie was pleased with the turnout considering the state of the economy and high fuel prices.
David Geer of Fruitvale, Texas, won the coveted Truckers Choice award for his 1998 Peterbilt & 1998 Utility Trailer "Marooned." The maroon rig features a "marooned on a desert island" theme throughout, with many detail touches such as a maroon oval that says "Marooned" instead of the red Peterbilt oval, and a neon light in the rear cab window with the word "Marooned" and a palm tree. Geer also took home prizes for second place in working truck 2002-97 combination, and third in both Interior-Custom Sleeper and Lights at Night Combination.
Another big winner was Dave Marcotte of Momence, Ill, with his red 1992 Peterbilt & 1978 Heil tanker trailer, "Liquid Chicken." Marcotte took home first-place trophies for Working Truck 1996-88 Combination, Polish & Detail, and Lights at Night Combination.
On the bobtail side, a big winner was Fred Forcelle, Montgomery, Minn., for his 1999 International with its extensive "Gray Wolf" theme, including murals and a life-size model wolf sitting in front of the truck. Forcelle won first place in Custom Paint Murals Bobtail, second place in both Working Truck 2002-1999 Bobtail and Lights at Night Bobtail, and third place in Polish/Detail.
