Autocar LLC has created a dealer network for the Xpeditor line it bought from Volvo earlier this year, along with the Autocar name.
The company has signed agreements with Houston-based Lone Star Truck Center, the Oakland Truck Center of Oakland, Calif., Chicago Truck Center of Chicago, and General GMC & Volvo Trucks of Palm Beach, Fla., to market the Xpeditor, a class 8 low-cab-over-engine truck used mainly for refuse hauling.
As a medium- and heavy-duty full service dealership, the Lone Star Truck Center is a nationally ranked top volume dealer in both Volvo and GMC trucks. General GMC & Volvo Trucks of Palm Beach, Chicago Truck Center and the Oakland Truck Center boast solid reputations for quality customer service and high sales volume.
Autocar LLC, Union City, Ind., was formed in July 2001, when parent company Grand Vehicle Works Holdings LLC purchased the Autocar name and the Xpeditor truck line from Volvo Trucks North America.
Autocar anticipates signing more dealerships to the network soon.
For more on the company and its plans for the Autocar name and Xpeditor line, see "An Old Name Gets New Life," 8/27/2001.
