Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, Calif., announced that Atlas Van Lines Inc. has signed an agreement to deploy Qualcomm's untethered trailer asset management solution.

The agreement calls for installation of 4,000 units by the end of this year.
The trailer management system will allow Atlas to pinpoint the location of each of its trailers at any time, while giving customers near real-time information. Atlas expects to make online tracking capabilities available to customers once the solution has been implemented. Customers will be able to track their shipments on the web.
Atlas, based in Evansville, Ind., specializes in household moves, employee relocation and transportation of high-value items such as electronics, fine art, new fixtures and furniture.
Qualcomm’s untethered trailer asset management solution is being developed with guidance from Qualcomm’s trailer tracking consortium, which includes a number of North America’s largest commercial truckload fleets.
