ArvinMeritor to Provide Components for Armored Vehicles
ArvinMeritor Inc. has been selected by International Military and Government LLC, a subsidiary of International Truck & Engine Corp., to supply 1,200 vehicle sets of front and rear drive axles with brakes, and transfer cases,

for a new generation of armored personnel carriers.
The equipment will be used on the U.S. military's Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.
ArvinMeritor's front drive steer axle - the MX-18-120HR with a new heavy-retardation 120 axle carrier - along with the RS-23-160 widetrack rear drive axle and the MTC-4210 transfer case, is a proven commercial drivetrain and all-wheel drive system.
"The military put the MRAP vehicle project on a fast track to get this improved and more durable vehicle into the field as soon as possible, so the ArvinMeritor team responded with an all-out effort," said Tim Bowes, ArvinMeritor's general manager of Specialty Products. "We are very aware of the need to protect our troops in the field and are proud to be able to support our customer on the MRAP".
