Doug Wolma, general manager for ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) remanufacturing business, said, "Our fleet and owner-operator customers recognize the value of reman components, and we'll exceed their expectations for more products and continued high quality."
The remanufactured components have the corporate resources of ArvinMeritor behind them, in terms of OE engineering, technical field support, as well as extension distribution and cataloging resources.
All reman components are brought back to engineering-approved specifications for the customer. According to Wolma, remanufactured parts offer a lower cost alternative to the customer while meeting the same quality requirements as new components.
Components - like brake shoes, axle carriers, manual transmissions, wedge brake actuators, hydraulic brake cylinders, transfer cases and trailer axles - are remanufactured at the company's Plainfield, Ind., manufacturing plant, which employs 220 workers. The manufacturing force is managed in cross-functional teams, which offers a competitive advantage over rebuilders or aftermarket suppliers.
Last September, the Indiana facility celebrated key remanufacturing production milestones - its 10 millionth brake shoe and 50,000th axle carrier.
Remanufacturing components uses fewer raw materials and energy than brand-new components.
