ArvinMeritor Inc. is helping more than 5,000 students in southeastern Michigan learn about free enterprise, business and economics through its title sponsorship of the ArvinMeritor/Junior Achievement 2000 Golf Classic.
The event, expected to raise close to $125,000 for Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan, was held yesterday at the Katke-Cousins Golf Club on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.
Junior Achievement helps young people recognize how their talents and abilities can create better lives for themselves, as well as for those around them. Its sequential and integrated kindergarten-through-grade-12 programs help young people use information, apply basic skills, think critically and solve complex problems.
ArvinMeritor is based in Troy, Mich., and also supports JA by participating as a lead sponsor in its annual Business Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, as well as by providing employee volunteers throughout the year for its classroom programs, bowl-a-thon and phone-a-thon fund-raising events.
