ArvinMeritor Inc. has announced that the Volvo Group has selected ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) business group to supply next-generation air disc brakes for both Renault and Volvo heavy trucks.
The four-year supply agreement begins in 2004 and is valued at more than $250 million.
"This is a significant extension of our current supply agreements with the Volvo Group and further evidence of ArvinMeritor's collaborative global partnership with this industry leader," said Tom Gosnell, president of ArvinMeritor CVS. "This award marks Volvo's confidence in our ability to serve its well-known family of truck brands with proven product technologies that deliver reliable -- dependable performance over the long haul."
This most recent contract is a continuation of existing business and confirms ArvinMeritor as the preferred supplier of air disc brakes for the Volvo Group's heavy commercial vehicles. Earlier this year, ArvinMeritor was also awarded additional new business from the Volvo family of trucks for its truck axles in North America.
ArvinMeritor Inc. is a global supplier of a broad range of integrated systems, modules and components to the motor vehicle industry.
The company serves light vehicle, commercial truck, trailer and specialty original equipment manufacturers and related aftermarkets. In addition, ArvinMeritor is a leader in coil coating applications. The company is headquartered in Troy, Mich., and employs 32,000 people at more than 150 manufacturing facilities in 27 countries. ArvinMeritor common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol ARM.
