ArvinMeritor this week held a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate construction of an information technology center in Columbus, Ind.

The 48,000-square-foot facility, which will house nearly 100 employees initially, will be a major hub in the company's network of worldwide information technology capabilities that includes sites in Europe, South America and Troy, Mich.
Initially, ArvinMeritor anticipates the Columbus information technology center will serve as a computing center, telecommunications hub, and will support ArvinMeritor business unit information technology throughout the corporation, according to Perry Lipe, senior vice president and chief information officer for ArvinMeritor.
Lipe indicated that the center represents an $8.5-million investment for ArvinMeritor and will consolidate Columbus-based information technology resources into a new, state-of-the art facility. Once completed, the facility will link with companion ArvinMeritor information technology centers in Amsterdam, Holland, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Troy, Mich.
