Vigillo LLC, provider of a web-based risk management platform for the delivery of policies, forms, training, assessments, and management reports to the trucking industry, announced that ARL Transport LLC has adopted its Software as a Service (SaaS)
risk management system and Scorecard Suite of reports. ARL will utilize the Vigillo platform to provide risk management services for its 600 independent contractors and 60 agents.
ARL Transport LLC, established in 1978 as a special commodity carrier, has expanded to offer a full range of trucking services. The diversified company based in Moon Township, Pennsylvania utilizes a large owner-operator base of equipment capable of transporting any type of commodity, including specialized loads, anywhere in the continental United States, Alaska and Canada.
"Vigillo offers the only solution in the industry that can help us use the considerable amount of safety data we collect to create a predictive indicator of risk in our organization and develop proactive solutions," said Ron K. Faherty, president of ARL Transport. "With its in-depth understanding of the freight transportation business and its leading edge technology, including its Scorecard Suite of reports, the Vigillo system will form the foundation of our efforts to get in front of potential problems. Going forward, it will also give us an unmatched accountability tool."
ARL Transport's need to focus and drill down into data on contractor operations has become more pronounced as the company has grown by 30% in the past 18 months. ARL plans to use the Vigillo solution to identify risks by contractor, office location and freight type and implement tailored training solutions that will address potential problems. The company also sees the Vigillo system as a due diligence application for driver qualification, and anticipates other benefits once the software can be used as an internal benchmarking tool.
ARL Transport was introduced to the solution by Vigillo's strategic partner, the transportation law firm of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP. Benesch's Transportation and Logistics Practice Group regularly advises clients about how to avoid unnecessary risks that constitute obstacles to growth, including regulatory requirements, as well as the development of new operating practices and compliance programs.
"The Vigillo platform will enable ARL Transport to better prepare and respond proactively to the many high-risk situations it encounters in it highly diversified operation," said Steven G. Bryan, CEO of Vigillo. "For ARL we will be able to pinpoint areas of non-compliance and identify solutions. We look forward to serving ARL Transport and are pleased to count them as a customer."

The Vigillo Scorecard Suite of reports includes a risk score based on factors such as accidents, customer service, rules violations, training and incidents for individual drivers, groups of drivers, managers and locations. Potential benefits of adopting the web-based, easy-to-use system include the for addressing problems before they become emergencies, lowering costs through improved time management and increased employee productivity, reducing turnover, and improving insurance risk profiles.
