American Freightways (www.arfw.com), the LTL carrier based in Harrison, Ark., will implement Shipmaster software from Synergistic Systems (www.syn-sys.com) of Neptune Beach, Fla.
The American Freightways version of ShipMaster will be called American Shipper Desktop and will be added to the carrier’s full line of Web and EDI services. The software will give shippers the ability to prepare bills of lading with 2D bar codes, rate bills, and print bar-coded pallet and case labels. American Freightways will make the product available free to shippers.
American Freightways, which operates 6,100 tractors and 15,500 trailers from 250 terminals in 39 states, just announced it was being acquired by Fedex for $950 million.
