ALK Hosts Transportation Technology Summit April 24
The 3rd annual ALK Transportation Technology Summit will offer a wealth of speakers, presentations and roundtables for senior-level transportation executives on Tuesday, April 24 at the Westin in Princeton, N.J.

ALK Technologies is a transportation industry pioneer and the leading developer of PC*MILER and CoPilot routing, mileage, mapping and navigation software.
The theme of this year's Technology Summit is "Navigating a New Route." Attendees from transportation, logistics and manufacturing companies, as well as technology providers, will survey the rapidly evolving transportation industry to identify new issues, trends and challenges.
ALK founder, Dr. Alain Kornhauser, will keynote the program Tuesday morning. Kornhauser is also Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering, as well as Director of the Transportation Program at Princeton University. In the 1970s, Kornhauser spearheaded the application of technology to transportation challenges, an ongoing effort he continues to lead.
Following the keynote address, Stanford Erickson, long-time associate publisher with Transport Topics Publishing Group, will assess the trucking industry outlook from a general economic vantage point. Then executives from top North American motor carriers including US XPress Enterprises, Pitt Ohio Express, Ward Trucking and others will discuss their individual companies' introduction and integration of navigation, toll cost management and mobile communications solutions.
Top trucking technology providers will offer overviews of current and future solutions as well as their experiences in numerous deployment scenarios. Providers on hand will include industry leaders and event sponsors Descartes, Intermec, PeopleNet and SMC3. The leading enterprise software suppliers, Innovative Computing Corp., McLeod Software and TMW Systems will also be represented.
Among the practical technology topics to be addressed are EOBR (Electronic OnBoard Recorders), fuel optimization, toll cost management, enterprise management systems, solutions integration, web services, rating innovations, mobile computing, open source software and customs compliance.
Two breakout roundtable sessions will focus on issues common to truckload carriers and less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers and shippers respectively. Ernie Betancourt, CEO, Innovative Computing Corp will moderate the Truckload Carriers and Shippers Roundtable. Michael Levans, chief editor, Logistics Magazine, will moderate the LTL Carriers and Shippers Roundtable. Old Dominion Freight Line and other carriers will contribute as well.
Transportation and logistics trade publications and the general business press will be covering the unique conference. The event will conclude with a dinner for attendees at Princeton University's Prospect House.
