AFVi Gears Up For Alternative Fuels and Vehicles Expo
The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute is gearing up for the 16th Alternative Fuels & Vehicles National Conference + Expo, which is coming up May 9-12 in Las Vega

.
The conference will feature keynote speakers T. Boone Pickens, founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, and John Davis, the Emmy Award-winning host, executive producer and creator of MotorWeek, a television series. Pickens is famous for his Pickens Plan and has over 1.6 million followers supporting his energy security goals.
Aside from the keynote speakers, 150 experts will present topics in 32 concurrent sessions. The program features many of the decision-makers in alternative fuels and technologies, representing truck manufacturers, fuel suppliers, government agencies and parts manufacturers. The national conference is a fuel and technology neutral meeting place for policy and/or purchasing decision-makers.
The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute has added a new event to the lineup this year, "Fleet Day," which will be held May 11. "Fleet Day" will involve an overall emphasis on the products and services available for purchase. In addition to an opportunity to talk to more than 100 exhibitors, there are guided tours of the Expo Hall, as well as a Technology Showcase where exhibitors present their products and services.
The afternoon includes a Ride-n-Drive with an array of vehicles from sponsoring manufacturers. Ride-n-Drive sponsor Bosch will showcase the VW Jetta and VW Golf TDI. AFVi, courtesy of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), launches a Vehicle Technology Parade featuring pre-production vehicles. Some of the vehicles on display include a compressed natural gas Impala, a McNeilus cement mixer, the Bosch-Rexroth hydraulic hybrid garbage truck and prototype hybrids.
Sponsors include ANGI Energy Systems, Bosch, Clean Energy, Dixie Chopper, Encana, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Global Electric Motorcars, GreenField, Linde, Luxfer, National Biodiesel Board, Renewable Fuels Association, Roush, Toyota and Westport Innovations.
