Mobile communications provider Aether Systems, Owings Mills, Md., has introduced Proximity Alert, an enhancement to its MobileMax Multi-Mode system.
According to Aether, Proximity Alert notifies MobileMax-equipped fleets of key events automatically in real-time, eliminating the chance for human error. Fleets can be notified when a truck enters or departs predefined locations, called "geo-fenced" areas. No driver is required. Fleet managers can receive a message when a vehicle arrives at, or leaves a location they wish to pinpoint. In addition, periodic detention messages can notify fleet managers if a vehicle has been at one location for longer than a specified period of time.
Proximity Alert can verify arrival and departure times at customer locations, measure detention, verify off-duty time, detect vehicle movement and more. This feature can also measure out-of-route miles, with messages that include odometer readings.
Proximity Alert is available to users of MobileMax, Aether?s proprietary Multi-Mode mobile communications system. MobileMax is the only solution that automatically switches between land-based and satellite communications without driver or dispatcher intervention, to maximize coverage and lower communications costs. MobileMax transmits dispatch and data messages and GPS position reports, and provides data on state-line crossings, vehicle fault codes and driver performance.
