The training, hosted by Barry Ernst of Frame Service, will cover a range of maintenance topics.

On Tuesday, May 18, the training kicks off with Eaton Corporation, makers of the Roadranger Transmission line, who will be discussing clutch assemblies. This will include maintenance, adjustment, and replacement. The instructor will cover the two-plate and the new solo clutch used with the semi-automatic transmissions.

Dana Corporation will instruct a class on proper maintenance, inspection, removal and replacement of kingpins. They will cover what tolerances require kingpin bushing replacement and how loose is too loose for kingpin fit in the axle.

ConMet will cover a session on proper maintenance of the wheel hubs. This will include information regarding proper torque of the wheel bearing nuts, replacement of wheel bearings and seals, and how to inspect wheel studs and the hub for damage. Also to be covered is the lubrication of the wheel bearings including wheel bearing grease, 75-90 synthetic, GL90 gear lube and semi-fluid grease. Technicians will get the opportunity to install a hub and properly torque all values.

On Wednesday, Tom Pelette of Chicago Pneumatic will start with a demonstration of the newest air Torque Wrench. The course will also address the importance of using the torque wrenches to assure a quality job and the importance of having the torque wrenches calibrated annually.

Next, Steve Rice of Reynolds Oil Company will be discussing the latest lubricants and coolants required on the new truck engines because of the increased heat.

NTN, makers of the Bower and BCA Bearings and National Seals, will demonstrate wheel bearing and seal replacement, pinion set-up and transmission bearing replacement. They will be demonstrating their new traveling technician classroom that is available to NTN distributors for demonstrations.
