98 IdleAire Slots Open on I-295 in New Jersey
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced that the Travel Centers of America truckstop in Paulsboro has installed 98 IdleAire bays with the department’s support
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced that the Travel Centers of America truckstop in Paulsboro has installed 98 IdleAire bays with the department’s support.
The IdleAire system enables drivers to enjoy amenities otherwise available only by idling. Using a console mounted on the cab’s passenger window, the system delivers heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The console provides power to the trailer refrigeration unit, appliances inside the cab and hookups for cable television, telephone and Internet service.
The release from the N.J. DEP said that Coastal Eagle Point Oil Co. agreed to provide $1 million toward the installation as part of a 2003 settlement with DEP and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
As part of the Paulsboro truckstop electrification project, the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management and MetaComet Systems developed a web-based software application that will enable the DEP to quantify the potential environmental, energy, economic and operator benefits of the electrification of the Paulsboro truckstop.
