America’s top environmental performers will be honored at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition (MC&E) where U.S. EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson
has been invited to present the 2006 SmartWay Awards on Monday, Oct. 30.
SmartWay is an ATA-EPA partnership to improve the environment while boosting the bottom-lines of trucking companies. SmartWay helps identify and popularize practical, money-saving techniques to increase fuel efficiency, reduce idling and cut emissions. The companies to be recognized Oct. 30 have been selected as national leaders in this effort.
Saving fuel is a key theme throughout the 2006 MC&E. In addition to the SmartWay Awards, three educational sessions geared for top trucking executives will explore equipment, purchasing, and operational strategies for stretching fuel dollars. The latest in cost-cutting technologies also will be on display throughout the MC&E in Exhibit Hall.
Other MC&E management seminars will tackle issues ranging from reducing litigation hazards to accessing venture capital, the use of simulators in driver training, broker relationships and estate planning. With a week to go before the hard-fought mid-term elections, politics also will come in for a close look, with nationally recognized campaign strategist Neil Newhouse providing an in-depth analysis at the Advocacy and Government Affairs Luncheon.
The 2006 MC&E will be held at the Gaylord Texas Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, from Oct. 28-31.
