Descartes Systems Group is introducting its latest intelligent Automated Vehicle Locator wireless services.


Available on the Descartes Global Logistics Network, Descartes' AVL services integrate on-demand delivery route planning and execution with Web-based tracking of vehicles via global positioning satellites. The AVL services extend visibility to fleets in the field and enable delivery route changes when exceptions occur, is available on a variety of mobile devices and wireless networks, and integrates with many back-office software applications.

The AVL provides field data updates and tracking in real-time, from basic GPS coordinates to more complex black-box engine diagnostics. With the depth of data provided, operators can also measure delivery performance against planned routes, and notify dispatch and/or customer service operations of changes made during the delivery cycle. Field workers also have visibility into relevant shipment data to keep up-to-date on delivery status to more effectively coordinate arrival times.
