Eaton Launches EverTough
Eaton launched a new brand of drivetrain components, called EverTough, engineered specifically for the aftermarket with a new line of heavy-duty clutches.
It designed the clutch with an aftermarket-specific facing, a release system with standard dual zerk fittings, and dampeners to meet the torsional vibration needs of the aftermarket. In addition, lube intervals are set at 25,000 miles to reduce maintenance cost.
With torque ratings available up to 2,050 pounds-feet, EverTough clutches are available in both 14- and 15.5-inch heavy-duty designs for all makes of diesel-powered commercial trucks.

ArvinMeritor MXL for Aftermarket
ArvinMeritor is expanding the availability of its Meritor MXL (Meritor Extended Lube) driveline to the North American aftermarket.
This driveline reduces maintenance costs up to $340 per truck and has a longer warranty, according to the company. The Meritor MXL is supplied with the same product ratings and application guidelines as the Meritor 17N, 176N and 18N series. A new 16N series for medium-duty vehicles will be available in spring 2011.
At 100,000 miles, the MXL's lubrication interval is twice as long as other conventional, greaseable drivelines. It also aligns with recommended lubrication intervals of other chassis components in linehaul vocations.
The MXL's RN Series yoke configurations are compatible with other industry standard yokes, making them completely interchangeable with most greaseable drivelines in linehaul use today.

Wix EcoLast Filter
Wix Filters says its new EcoLast line of heavy-duty spin-on oil filters can double oil life by trapping damaging acids, saving fleets $100 to $200 a year.
The EcoLast does not add anything to the oil, unlike other filters that try to extend oil drain intervals by using slow-release additive extenders. Instead, it uses a proprietary media as well as a durable filter housing designed to last the entire extended drain.
The EcoLast filter was field-tested with 15 large fleets. In one fleet, 17 Cummins ISX engines ran for 1.7 million total miles with the new filter over 13 months. The oil drain interval was extended on average from 22,853 miles to 54,185 miles.
The first EcoLast oil filters will become available for the Cummins ISX, Cummins M11, Mack MP8, Detroit DD60, Caterpillar C13 and Caterpillar C15.

Dana Service-Free U-Joints
Service-free, lubed-for-life U-joints are now available on Spicer Life Series driveshafts from Dana. The products reduce maintenance costs over a truck's lifetime, and can be retrofitted to existing Spicer U-joints.
The new SPL-250 and SPL-170 service-free U-joints have been designed for main and tandem drive inter-axle driveshaft applications for a variety of Class 8 heavy-duty truck applications and borrow from Dana products that have been available in Europe for over 13 years.
Dana recently upgraded the performance and durability of its entire line-up of SPL heavy-duty universal joints.

Bendix EverSure Spring Brake
Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake announced a new lightweight, durable double-diaphragm spring brake for drum brakes.
The EverSure spring brake offers 2 to 3 pounds of savings per wheel-end, which adds up to 16 to 24 pounds on a tractor-trailer combination. It's designed to industry-standard dimensions, making it easy to install as a replacement part in the aftermarket, while exceeding compliance requirements for original equipment. The product's lighter weight also provides better vibration resistance.
Contact between compressed power spring coils has been eliminated, allowing the protective coating to remain intact and significantly improve corrosion resistance.

Accu-Lite Wheels
Accuride debuted its Accu-Lite lightweight aluminum wheel line at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
Accuride's 22.5 x 8.25 aluminum Accu-Lite wheel weighs 45 pounds - 12 pounds less than the Accuride Duplex wheel. The wheels also feature "ultra-enhanced finish" for a high-gloss appearance.

ConMet PreSet Hub Assembly
Consolidated Metco's new PreSet Plus hub assembly has a new integrated spindle nut design that simplifies installation, protects components during installation and removal and aids in removal of the assembly during service.
The patent-pending nut also increases clamp, improves safety, and eliminates adjustments required to engage a locking ring. A new bearing spacer has been optimized for the PreSet Plus system to accommodate the higher clamp loads. All components are field serviceable and bearings are pre-adjusted. A long-life oil seal is standard. A magnetic fill plug is available for drive and trailer hubs for inspection of metal particles in lubricant.

Betts Spring, Spraydown USA Joint Hanger-Flap

Envirofleet HVAC Units
Envirofleet of Kent, Ohio, now offers three styles of stand-alone HVAC units for truck sleeper cabs for reduced idle time.
Each unit has a 110-volt compressor and can be run using diesel, gasoline or electricity. A sealed box design uses no hoses and never needs to be recharged. With an on-board generator, there are no time limits for HVAC use, allowing climate control during an entire 34-hour turnaround.
The Envirofleet HVAC is available in rooftop, back wall and underbunk configurations.
