The union says that, contrary to Overnite's report, the unfair labor practice charge resulting from the testimony of former Memphis Overnite manager Dale Watson has not been dismissed, and that one of the complaints is a result of Watson's affidavit.
At the Memphis terminal, the complaint consolidated six separate charges. It names Overnite's area manager, terminal manager, assistant terminal manager, three supervisors and a dispatcher. The complaint includes unlawful firing of union supporters, intimidation, discrimination and harassment. A hearing is scheduled for March 20.
At the New Orleans terminal, the complain consolidated 10 separate charges. It names three Overnite terminal managers, a supervisor and a dispatcher. The complaint includes unlawful failure to bargain in good faith; unlawful unilateral changes in wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment that are mandatory subjects of collective bargaining; and discrimination. A hearing is scheduled for June 19.
At the Indianapolis terminal, the complaint names the terminal manager and an Overnite security investigator for unlawful firing, discrimination, intimidation and harassment because workers engaged in the Teamsters strike against Overnite in July 1999. The hearing date has not yet been set.
In Atlanta, the complaint consolidates three separate charges. It names the terminal manager and includes unlawful failure to bargain in good faith, unlawful firing, intimidation, and unlawful unilateral changes in areas that are mandatory subjects of collective bargaining. A hearing is scheduled for May 1.
In Cincinnati, the complain names the terminal manager and assistant manager for restraining and coercing workers. A hearing was scheduled for yesterday.
In Rockford, IL, the complaint named the Overnite terminal manager for restraining and coercing workers. A settlement was reached on this complaint.
The Teamsters union has been picketing Overnite terminals in an unfair labor practices strike for more than three months.
