[CORRECTED] Wabco and Meritor have terminated the agreement that had some Wabco products being sold under the Meritor Wabco name. Now Wabco is controlling its entire aftermarket portfolio. This includes Wabco-branded antilock braking system technologies, stability control, advanced driver assistance systems, air systems, and other replacement products previously distributed by Meritor Inc.

In a first for the company, the entire Wabco North American aftermarket product line, as well as all related sales, distribution, customer service, and technical support, will be provided directly by Wabco in North America. These aftermarket parts are sold to OE dealers as well as independent aftermarket parts distributors.

“As a single point of contact for this expanded platform, we look forward to providing our industry-leading commercial vehicle technologies through a growing network of authorized Wabco distributors and service providers throughout the North American market,” said Jon Morrison, president, Wabco Americas. “We will use this platform to deliver an enhanced customer experience for OE service providers, aftermarket parts distributors and fleets seeking to maximize uptime and reduce cost-per-mile for each asset at every stage of its ownership service lifecycle.”

The Meritor Wabco joint venture got its start 30 years ago, focusing on antilock brake parts. In 2017, Wabco Holdings announced it was expanding its operations in North America by taking full ownership of the Meritor Wabco joint venture. At that time, however, Meritor remained the exclusive distributor of a certain range of Wabco's aftermarket products in the United States and Canada, and the non-exclusive distributor in Mexico. A year ago, Wabco announced a full line of aftermarket parts, and in March, Wabco was bought by ZF.

Wabco's portfolio of products includes electronic stability control systems and components; hydraulic and pneumatic tractor and trailer anti-lock braking system components; Wabco OnGuard and OnLane ADAS systems; electronically controlled air suspension systems and parts; air dryers and cartridges, including System Saver and ProVia series; air compressors; and other items.

The company expects to begin directly offering these products to OE service providers and aftermarket distributors in March 2020.

Editor's Note: Revised Jan. 27, 2020, to clarify that Wabco is not distributing products directly to end users.
