Continental is offering SAE-certified silicone hose elbows designed to handle extremely hot and cold temperatures in newer heavy-duty engines.

Modern heavy-duty truck engines have more stringent emissions requirements and the 4-ply coolant silicone hose and elbows are designed to meet or exceed original equipment specifications for extreme environmental conditions.

The silicone hose has a 400-degree Fahrenheit continuous rating and a 450-degree peak rating and can also withstand temperatures as low as -120 degrees. In high temperature applications, a silicone hose will typically last for the service life of the vehicle, according to Continental.

“Engine temperatures in newer heavy-duty engines can run extremely high,” said Brent Lloyd, heavy-duty channel manager for Continental division ContiTech.  “These Continental hose elbows compliment what we already offer on SAE radiator hose products and other silicone products such as charge air cooler hose and heater hose.”
