Peterbilt Trucks with Anti-Theft System Need a Code to Start
Peterbilt’s new anti-theft system for Model 579 and 567 trucks uses a passcode to protect vehicles from being stolen.

Peterbilt’s new anti-theft system for Model 579 and 567 trucks uses a passcode to protect vehicles from being stolen.
The anti-theft system works on trucks equipped with PACCAR MX-13 engines and must be started within six minutes of entering the passcode or it will have to be entered again.
“The anti-theft system integrates with the MX-13 engine and the vehicle's Driver Information Center to require operators to enter a unique passcode to start the truck,” said Landon Sproull, chief engineer at Peterbilt. “If an incorrect code is entered, the engine will be disabled until the correct code is used.”
Drivers are told to enter their passcode through the menu control switch on the LCD Driver Information Center screen when they start the engine. The system can be activated or deactivated and passwords can be changed at any Peterbilt dealership’s service department.
The anti-theft system is now it production and available to order.
