New Hours-of-Service Rule Changes Reflected in New Driver Training Program
When it comes to DOT compliance, the more things change, the more things require updating. That’s especially true when it comes to drivers’ hours-of-service training.
When it comes to DOT compliance, the more things change, the more things require updating. That’s especially true when it comes to drivers’ hours-of-service training.
On July 1, the federal hours-of-service rules for drivers of property-carrying CMVs were revised. Drivers now face mandatory 30-minute rest breaks and more restrictions on use of the 34-hour "restart" provision.
This means hours-of-service training developed before July 1 may now be out of date — putting carriers at risk of being out of compliance. However, carriers can reduce that risk with the new hours-of-service driver training program from the regulatory specialists at J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc.
J. J. Keller’s new hours-of-service training program features clear explanations of the most current rules, animated how-to-log graphics, and engaging commentary on why it’s important to log accurately.
Components of the training program include a closed-captioned DVD, instructor guide, trainer tools CD-ROM with ready-to-use materials, ten wallet cards, 11 driver handbooks, an hours-of-service special report, and a driver training log book.
In addition to the DVD format, hours-of-service is on J. J. Keller’s Training On Demand website (jjkellertraining.com) as an interactive online course and a Pay Per View video. The Interactive CD-ROM format will be available in August.
