Eco Flaps is introducing a new product suite that includes a new wheel cap and a re-engineered, aerodynamic mud flap design.

The new products are designed to be durable and easy to install.

Weighing under three pounds or less, the new Eco Flaps allow for easier installation on angled brackets. Additionally, the splash guards reduce road spray by 68%, Eco Flaps officials said in a press release.

Eco Caps was designed to be able to be installed in under five seconds, according tot he company. Removal also requires no tools and can be removed in under five seconds. Eco Caps are made from the same durable high-impact nylon that Eco Flaps are made from.

Results from testing from Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions found that Eco Flaps’ high-impact nylon splash guards saved up to 2.10%, or 2.4 gallons per 1,000 miles, on fuel on double 28-foot trailers with trailer skirts. The Eco Caps alone saved 1.85% or 2.06 gallons per 1,000 miles. When used in conjunction, Eco Caps and Eco Flaps saved 3.9%, or 4.45 gallons per 1,000 miles, on 28-foot double trailers with skirts. Eco Flaps were also tested on a single 28-foot trailer with skirts and showed savings of 2.60%, or 2.41 gallons per 1,000 miles.

“With the numbers showing significant savings on 28-foot trailers, this could show LTL carriers a drastic change in fuel and maintenance costs each year," Eco Flaps President Asa Hazelwood said in a press release.

The patented designs were created to enhance other fuel-saving products like Eco Caps or trailer skirts. However, when MVTS tested Eco Flaps in a stand-alone test, the results showed 1.9%, or 2.14 gallons saved per 1,000 miles on unskirted 28-foot double trailers.

MVTS found savings of 1.34% or 1.29 gallons per 1,000 miles on skirted 48-foot trailers.

The products are made in the United States and are backed by a two-year warranty.
