Blue Ink Tech has introduced its own BIT Air Scale and tire pressure monitoring sensors that are designed to be integrated with its electronic logging device platform.

Carriers and drivers can keep track of gross vehicle and axle weights, tire pressure monitoring, logbooks, maintenance schedules, fault codes, documents, permits, IFTA and DVIRs through a single Blue Ink Tech account.

“We noticed that there is a lot more to trucking than just ELD compliance,” said Mike Riegel of Blue Ink Tech. “There are a lot of laws both federally and state to state that drivers must keep up with and they are changing all of the time. We aim to provide the tools carriers and drivers need to keep up.”

Their BIT Air Scale product installs on the truck and trailers air suspension line and converts the change in pressure caused by an increased load into the vehicles gross and axle weight. It allows drivers to see that they are about to be overloaded at the dock and can save them from driving back and forth between scales and shippers to get cargo rearranged or removed.

Vehicle weight information is also sent to the carrier who can hold shippers accountable for overloading or see which trucks have space available for additional loads.

The BIT TPMS sensors screw on to the tire valve stem and report tire pressure and temperature to the Blue Ink Tech app. Drivers can see which tires are low and address them immediately. The tire pressure readings are also added to a driver’s DVIR and sent to carriers who can keep records of the tire readings.
