Auxiliary Power Generator Runs on CNG
The Cummins Onan Series 5500 NG 5.5 kW generator designed to run on compressed natural gas and provide auxiliary electric and optional hydraulic power for commercial trucks.

The Cummins Onan Series 5500 NG 5.5 kW generator is designed to run on compressed natural gas and provide auxiliary electric and optional hydraulic power for commercial trucks.
It is designed for small service trucks, utilities, food trucks, and other commercial fleets which often need auxiliary power to run power drills, fans, pumps and other equipment.
The generator produces 5.5 kW at 60Hz, 120/240 volts, single phase and it also features an optional combined generator and vehicle fuel tank. The unit has an enclosed muffler and exhaust catalysts to help it meet all applicable EPA and CARB air quality standards.
"The new Series 5500 NG generator set was developed from a line of compact and quiet generators Cummins Onan has supplied to the recreational vehicle market for 15 years," said Eric Bollensen, an applications engineer with Cummins Onan. "We modified the time-tested engine to suit the needs of natural gas fuel properties while maintaining the engine's proven performance."
For maintenance it features a self-diagnosis capability for troubleshooting and digital voltage regulation for voltage and frequency stability. Optionally, it can come with a hydraulic PTO to operate small cranes, splicing equipment and bucket hoists while simultaneously providing electric power.
The generator was also designed to run quietly, being developed originally for the RV market. It produces 69 decibels when measured from 10 feet away under a full load, according to Cummins Onan.
The generator is backed by a two-year limited warranty and a five-year warranty is supported by the Cummins dealer network.
