Minneapolis-based trucking software provider Xata Corp., has introduced two new applications for Qualcomm's MVPc onboard computer. The applications, Electronic Driver Logs and Fuel Tax, automate driver logs, monitor state line crossings and calculate fuel tax.
The MVPc computer uses the Windows CE operating system to run custom or third-party applications and is an optional driver interface with Qualcomm mobile communications products such as the OmniTRACS satellite-based system and OmniEXPRESS, a cellular based product.
According to Xata, Electronic Driver Logs program relieves drivers from having to write down border crossing information while driving. The software show drivers available driving time on the MVPc's display.
The Fuel Tax application simplifies regulatory compliance by automating fuel tax and driver hours-of-service calculations.
The applications are in the XataNet family of Internet-based applications compatible with a variety of hardware, communications platforms and peripheral devices. Xata said it has has an initial order for the XataNet Electronic Logs and Fuel Tax applications from one fleet and pilot programs in at least two others.
Xata is a long-time supplier of operations software primarily to private fleets.
