Webb Wheel Products, a major wheel-end supplier, has been re-organized into separate business units targeting OEM business, the aftermarket and the transit industry.

Webb President Ken Dickson said each business now has dedicated manufacturing operations supported by a complete organization.
The OEM Trailer business, headed by Kent Finkbiner, is operated from a new manufacturing facility located in Tell City, Ind. It is equipped with state of the art CNC machining cells designed for maximum output of high volume hubs and drums. Activities within this facility include technical specifications, testing, scheduling and customer service support.
The OEM Truck business under development at Webb Wheel and headed by Ed Wentz will be temporarily served and supported from the new Tell City location. Planning is under way for a separate, stand-alone OEM Truck facility to open in 2006. It too will feature the latest technology in high speed, precision quality machining centers. Extensive use of robotics is planned along with state of the art powder coating capabilities for finishes that will fight the damaging affects of corrosion.
With the business re-organization, Webb has converted and updated its plant in Cullman, Ala. to a dedicated aftermarket product machining and support facility. New CNC machining, robotic, balancing and coating equipment has been purchased and installed. The Aftermarket Business Unit, headed by Mike Canada, will now be in a position to concentrate on aftermarket requirements for its products regardless of the level of industry OE demand. In the past, a strong demand from equipment manufacturers for wheel end products to satisfy build requirements put replacement part supply at risk. Webb Wheel has addressed this problem for their aftermarket customers by organizing a business unit with responsibilities only to meet their needs.
In addition to the business unit re-organization, Webb Wheel continues to develop innovative new wheel end products to meet the needs of the industry. Webb’s lightweight ductile hubs have recently been introduced complimenting its standard ductile hub and lightweight aluminum hub offerings. More product developments are expected and will be announced by the company as they enter the market.
