Vigillo has announced that Carrier Select, the company’s carrier selection tool for freight brokers, shippers and insurance providers, will continue to provide CSA scores that its carrier customers can opt-in to share.
This announcement comes in the wake of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration removing CSA data from public view. The removal is temporary as the FMCSA reforms the way it analyzes enforcement data, as required by the recently passed FAST Act long-term highway bill.
Vigillo maintains a large database of carrier CSA scores that is separate from that of FCMSA. The Carrier Select no-cost opt-in model is available to any carrier to easily share now-private CSA scores, along with Vigillo’s own JUST parallel scoring system, with its business partners as they see fit.
“As a means of performing the due diligence required to defend against negligent hire lawsuits, we introduced Carrier Select four years ago so freight brokers, shippers and insurers can readily access the safety rating, operating authority, insurance and CSA scores of their motor carrier partners,” said Steven G. Bryan, CEO of Vigillo.
“With the blocking of CSA BASIC scores from public view under newly enacted legislation, combined with the lack of hiring standards, that due diligence becomes much more difficult and much more critical,” he added.
Carrier Select is a web-based application that provides real-time data for analyzing motor carrier performance to make a more informed choice, according to Vigillo. The app has been redesigned to be more user friendly and with its own safety database, Vigillo believes the app will be a more valuable tool for its subscribers.
“Having never relied on publicly available CSA data, Vigillo is uniquely positioned to fill the void left by the removal of public CSA scores,” said Bryan. “The day CSA is turned off from public view, Carrier Select turns on, and the communication of critical safety data between motor carriers and brokers and shippers continues without interruption.”
