Truckers passing through Pennsylvania will have the opportunity to show off their driving skills in front of their peers while doing a good deed. The 11th Annual Truckin’ for Buck$, set for tomorrow, August 19, at Buck Motorsports Park, just south of Lancaster, will give drivers the forum to strut their stuff, visit with other drivers, and enjoy good food, while raising money for individuals with physical disabilities at the same time.
All proceeds from the event will go to United Cerebral Palsy of Lancaster.
Drivers can participate in a driving competition, which promotes safety while testing driving skills. Any driver who has a CDL may participate and equipment will be provided. A $50 registration fee will be required, with all benefits going directly to UCP. Contest classes include straight truck, 5-axle flat, 5-axle tank, 5-axle van, 3-axle van and bus, with each requiring a minimum of six participants. Registration starts at 7 a.m.
There will also be a "Shine ‘N Show" truck beauty competition. Participants for the show only need to shell out $15 for registration, which begins at 9:30 a.m.
Drivers are also encouraged to raise additional funds for UCP, in addition to the $15 or $50 registration fees, giving them a chance to win the Top Fundraiser award. The driver who brings in the most money will win two tickets to the MBNA NASCAR Race in Dover, Del., on September 24.
Event planners expect approximately 120 truckers will turn out for Truckin’ for Buck$. Visitors will also have a chance to see a Winston Cup NASCAR on display, as well as enjoy a lot of food and vendor displays.
"Over the past 11 years, the trucking industry has raised over $400,000 for UCP," said Roxanne Alicea, event spokesperson. "It’s unbelievable."
Buck Motorsports Park is located 10 miles South of Lancaster on Route 272. For more information about the event, or to obtain fundraising information, call Roxanne at (800) 995-9581.
