The Truckload Carriers Assn. (TCA) has announced its 2004 spring series of the Truckload Profitability Fundamentals Seminars to be held in Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago.

The truckload segment of the industry has always been a complex business model, plagued by high driver turnover. Now with the hours of service issues, time at the docks, and an increase in third-party logistics, this problem has only gotten worse.
TCA says it is imperative that truckload carriers know their costs and evaluate their rates properly. This hands-on seminar will show trucking executives how to build a truckload financial statement that will serve as a foundation for benchmarking and improving profitability. It will also answer questions including: how do you determine profit centers; how do you allocate costs, revenues, people, miles, loads, etc.; how do you begin benchmarking and conducting comparison analysis to industry leaders; and how can you apply the truckload profitability fundamentals to your own company?
Decisiv Inc. and Jack Porter will moderate this seminar. Porter will give participants examples of truckload industry averages and a better understanding of what key factors will show you if you are making a profit. Porter has been working for the past year and half with some of the industry's leaders within the TCA benchmarking program to develop these key factors.
Confronted with the industry challenges of higher profitability, TCA and Decisiv have developed a Uniform Financial Statement, a Financial Composite for Benchmarking, and a Best Practice's program for TCA members.
The Truckload Profitability Fundamentals Seminar will be held on March 30 in Dallas, April 8 in Atlanta and June 15 in Chicago.
Register by calling TCA at (703) 838-1950, or visit www.truckload.org and click on "Events" to download a registration form.
