The Truckload Carriers Assn. (TCA) is hosting an audio conference from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT on Oct. 9 called, "Implementing the ‘New’ Hours of Service Rules – Is Your Company Ready?"
The new hours of service rules go into effect on Jan. 4, 2003 and will impact how carriers operate and do business. Out of service violations can be costly -- up to $11,000 per violation per motor carrier. To assure a smooth transition to the new regulations, it is important that everyone in a trucking company understand the new regulations and how it affects the company and their individual functions.
TCA’s audio conference will provide an overview of the new rules and how the rules will be enforced. Steve Keppler, director of policy and programs for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and two carriers -- Joseph Simons, vice president of human resources for Marten Transport Ltd., Mondovi, Wis.; and Bill Wiese, director of safety for Raven Transport Co., Jacksonville, Fla., will explain how they are preparing their employees for the new rules and the types of operational changes they are making to implement them.
This expert panel will address motor carrier "real world" responses to implementation and compliance with the new rules, before and after log scenarios using the new hours of service rules and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance enforcement aspect of the new rules.
This audio conference is targeted toward CEO’s, operations and safety professionals, fleet managers, the sales department and drivers.
To register, visit www.truckload.org, or call TCA at (703) 838-1950.
