SkyMira Debuts Digital, In-Cab Fax Service
SkyMira LLC, Milford, Conn., has launched Sky-Fax, a new digital fax service. According to the SkyMira press release, Sky-Fax provides the convenience of anywhere fax access and capability

Sky-Fax complements SkyMira’s existing trucking-focused services, which include e-mail, short messaging, Adobe PDF forms service and GPS fleet tracking.
Sky-Fax does not require a landline connection, but enables sending and receiving faxes through any Internet connection, including satellite, cellular and Wi-Fi.
Sky-Fax’s digital fax service should not be confused with e-mail-to-fax services like eFax and MyFax. While those types of faxing services require knowledge of document scanning and e-mail attaching, Sky-Fax enables faxing the old-fashioned way, dialing a phone number then hitting the send button.
Sky-Fax contains built-in store-and-forward capability. If a trucker is in areas of spotty cellular coverage, Sky-Fax will store faxes for later sending. Once the cellular signal improves to a functional level, Sky-Fax will automatically connect to the network and send the waiting fax. At the same time, it will check for any inbound faxes that might be awaiting the trucker’s attention. Redials and reattempts are eliminated.
With prices ranging from as little as ten cents per page, Sky-Fax is cheaper than traditional truck stop service, which typically costs one dollar or more per faxed page.
