Qualcomm Inc., a leader in wireless data solutions, announced the commercial introduction of its GlobalTRACS equipment management system at the American Rental Assn.'s
47th annual convention and Rental Trade Show in Anaheim, Calif.
The GlobalTRACS equipment management system provides wireless access to equipment engine hours and location data, regardless of equipment type or manufacturer.
Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS system is a turnkey equipment management solution, offering rugged hardware, state-of-the-art network services and extensive data integration capabilities.
Tim Lewis, senior director of construction equipment operations for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions, said, "The GlobalTRACS system provides equipment fleet managers with a comprehensive solution that enables superior customer service, while helping to reduce operating costs."
The GlobalTRACS equipment management system enables factory or aftermarket installation on all equipment makes and models so that fleet managers can remotely monitor engine hours and location. The GlobalTRACS reduces maintenance costs, increases billing and job costing accuracy, improves customer service and reduces equipment theft and misuse, Lewis said.
Qualcomm's Network Management Center (NMC) supports the GlobalTRACS system. The NMC processes more than 7 million data messages and position reports daily.
The fully redundant NMC is based in San Diego, Calif., with a second facility located in Las Vegas, Nev.
Qualcomm has shipped more than 460,000 mobile communications systems units to businesses in more than 39 countries on four continents.
