Pilot, TripPak Express Reconcile
Pilot Travel Centers and Truckload Management Inc. have reached an agreement that keeps TMI’s TripPak Express drop boxes at Pilot’s facilities
Pilot Travel Centers and Truckload Management Inc. have reached an agreement that keeps TMI’s TripPak Express drop boxes at Pilot’s facilities.
Earlier this week, TMI sent out an announcement saying Pilot was threatening to remove the drop boxes unless TMI paid rental fees.
Apparently Pilot’s customers were not happy about the situation. A statement released by TMI Tuesday said that “response from drivers and fleets was immediate, overwhelming and clearly the industry wants to see TripPak and Pilot continue a long-standing relationship.”
Pilot says it now has a placement agreement with TripPak that “addresses our business issues, and TripPak has the guarantee that Pilot will not negatively impact their cost structure," said Mark Hazelwood, Pilot executive vice president. "Both companies are working with customers to make sure that there is no interruption in service or any misunderstanding."
"Pilot acted quickly to confirm with each Travel Center manager that no further action was necessary and all our drop boxes are in place," explained Mark A. Cleveland, executive vice president of TMI. "TripPak Express shipments from all Pilot locations were accounted for today and only three sites were inactive for twenty four hours. We now have a multi year placement agreement and Pilot will respect the original TripPak arrangement to help us keep carrier costs down."
TripPak and Pilot have agreed to research other initiatives that would expand coverage and add value to mutual customers.
