"Pet Peeves" Rankle Tracking Solution Buyers
Buyers of asset management and tracking solutions rate cost control their most pressing concern

Buyers of asset management and tracking solutions rate cost control their most pressing concern.
After that comes efficient maintenance management, followed by equipment utilization and safety.
Those findings come from The Microeconomic Analyst Inc. (TMI) of Philadelphia, which conducted a study involving systems for tracking information from trucking and off-road vehicles. TMI contacted fleet technology buyers on behalf of a client who wishes to remain anonymous.
The results offer an interesting window on real-world fleet experience, particularly under the heading "Pet Peeves Associated with Existing Asset Location, Tracking and Utilization Products."
TMI reported five essential categories of pet peeve:
Products break too often, are incompatible with other devices (and even other vehicles in the fleet) and/or provide inaccurate data.
Data is too difficult and/or time-consuming to load and unload.
User-unfriendly devices cost additional training costs and lower productivity.
Solutions cost too much, fail to live up to sales claims and/or return on investment is not proven.
Product developers seem unwilling to take buyer requirements seriously and provide poor buyer support.
On the other hand, TMI reports the same buyers anticipate improvement and future benefits, again in five categories:
Technology will provide increased capabilities for current prices.
Prices will decline for current capabilities, allowing wider adoption.
Devices will be more user-friendly.
Increased safety benefits will lower the cost associated with poor safety.
Solutions will help meet existing and future regulations.
