Dec. 30 – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Monday announced plans to retest some commercial drivers who took their road skills test at PennDOT’s Schuylkill Haven Driver License Center between July 1993 and December 10, 1998.

PennDOT recently discovered an examiner at the center did not properly administer the road skills tests. The examiner has been fired. Anyone who was tested by the examiner has to retake the skills test.
Approximately 115 truck and bus drivers have to retake the skills portion of their exam before Monday, Jan. 11, 1999. A special testing site has been arranged near Interstate 81 in Frackville, open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. seven days a week. The center will be closed half a day on New Year’s Eve and all day on New Year’s Day. The test will be free, and testing vehicles will be available onsite.
“Any attempt to compromise the integrity of our stringent commercial testing process will not be tolerated, whether at our licensing centers or at a contracted firm,” said Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary Bradley Mallory.
The news comes on the heels of investigations into CDL selling in Illinois and Mississippi.
The affected drivers in Pennsylvania have been notified by mail. For more information, call 1-877-256-9269 toll-free.
