President George W. Bush has announced that Paccar is one of the recipients of the 2004 National Medal of Technology.

Established by Congress in 1980, the National Medal of Technology represents the nation's highest award for innovation recognizing the significant contributions that America's leading innovators make to the nation's economic strength and technology advancements.
This award honors Paccar's global industry leadership in the development of aerodynamic, lightweight commercial vehicles that have dramatically reduced fuel consumption and increased the productivity of freight transportation. "Improved vehicle aerodynamics, active hybrid vehicle programs, development of onboard energy management systems and the reduction of rolling resistance are among the many initiatives under way by Paccar to enhance its technology leadership," said Mark C. Pigott, chairman and chief executive officer.
"Paccar's 22,000 dedicated employees are setting the highest standards for innovation, creativity and customer focus and are delighted to be recognized for their contribution to the nation's technology prowess."
Paccar has also recently been recognized as a leading information technology innovator in the automotive sector by InformationWeek magazine and has been named one of the top 50 best manufacturing companies by IndustryWeek magazine.
Paccar is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of commercial trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates.
