The National Accounting and Finance Council of the American Trucking Associations will hold four key educational sessions during this year's ATA Management Conference and Exhibition in October.

The NAFC Annual Conference and Exhibit Forum, which has "co-located" to join ATA for its October 27-30 meeting in Orlando, Florida, will conduct four of 15 educational sessions. Industry experts and motor carrier senior managers will lead NAFC sessions dealing with the costly insurance market, company capital financing and load analysis and costing.
"Not all carrier-owners are competitively insured but could be if they were better informed," said Richard Curtis, NAFC Executive Director, "and many have a tough time presenting their company's financial positions to prospective debt capital providers."
Two related sessions look at the difficulties of doing business in today's insurance market. NAFC's Risk Management Committee, with the ATA Insurance Task Force, is sponsoring these sessions, designed to give practical advice to trucking company executives.
The first insurance session will address "hard" market issues and how to satisfy underwriting requirements. These topics, plus buying and financing transportation insurance coverage, will be discussed by trucking managers, insurance brokers and insurance underwriters.
The second session will analyze insurance program alternatives, what steps to take when the time comes for renewal and ways to get the most affordable coverage for your company. Small, medium and large-size motor carriers will learn what steps must be taken to create a better long-term insurance environment for their company and how to ease pressure on the bottom line.
One financial session will examine the challenge of obtaining capital financing in a difficult and rapidly changing economic environment and the other will discuss how to optimize loads and activity-based costing.
