Mike Ryan recently set his 5th new record in his Mercedes-Benz powered Freightliner Century Class S/T Super Truck in the big rig Class of the 2005 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

This was Ryan's eighth win in the nine years that he has competed in the Race to the Clouds.
Ryan completed his run up the mountain this year with a time of 12:46.81.
When Ryan first entered the class in 1997, the record stood at 15:48.
Beating any racing record by more than three minutes in nine years is an amazing accomplishment.
Prior to the race Ryan said, "With the design enhancements to our Freightliner Century Class S/T race truck, terrific course conditions and good weather, I know this is our year to win big. Last year's truck was capable of breaking records but the weather on the mountain wouldn't allow it."
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (www.ppihc.com) is the second oldest motor sports event in the United States after the Indianapolis 500. June 25th was the 83rd running of what many consider to be one of the most challenging courses anywhere in the world. The course runs 12.46 miles through 156 turns, climbing nearly one mile in elevation to reach the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak. The run up the mountain is mostly dirt with no guardrails, making for extremely challenging driving conditions.
Mike Ryan Motorsports is sponsored by Freightliner Trucks, Shell Rotella, Michelin Tires, Delphi, ArvinMeritor, ZF Transmissions, Wyotech, Transcore, Accuride Wheels and industry charity partner, Trucker Buddy.
