McLeod Software, Birmingham, AL, is planning its ninth annual Software Users Conference for Sept. 23-25 in Birmingham.

George Molaski, the first Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation, will address the conference Sept. 23. "I want to use the Internet and other resources to provide better services and the information that they need to perform their jobs and interact with us," Molaski says. "I look forward to hearing from the trucking industry how we can better serve them."
Molaski, who started his job in June, will serve as the principal advisor to Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater on matters involving information resources and information services management. It's also his job to finish making the DOT's computer systems Y2K compliant.
The theme of the conference is "You Can Get There From Here." This is also McLeod's new corporate slogan. "With proper training and proper use of our software and other technologies, you and your staff can make great strides towards greater efficiency and profitability," says President Tom McLeod.
The company expects 600 people to attend the conference. In addition to information specific to McLeod's LoadMaster software, sessions will cover topics such as e-commerce, document imaging, management issues, driver recruiting, and the Internet. There will be a record number of 33 companies and associations exhibiting and sponsoring events. In addition to educational sessions, the conference will include entertainment such as a banquet with comedian John "Ragin' Cajun" Morgan, a golf outing and a reception.
