Maptuit provides hosted mapping related software services.
While working closely with hardware vendors, Maptuit has created its first generation of in-vehicle navigation software for the professional truck driver on both Windows and WinCE enabled devices. Maptuit expects to move into a limited trial by the beginning of Q4 2005, well ahead of the announced delivery timetables of the new generation devices.
"We are thrilled to see there will be a successor to the limited in-cab computing capability available through today's very limited mobile communications devices,” said Jeff Papows, CEO of Maptuit. “Maptuit expected this paradigm shift, invested heavily to be ahead of it, and will ensure our customers benefit as the next generation devices roll out in the second half of next year.”
Maptuit’s development efforts for Windows, Windows CE and other standards-based platforms are now nearing maturity, and are designed to be open to all device specifications. Additionally, Maptuit expects to continue to work with the hardware vendors to ensure optimal performance of Maptuit’s FleetNav services on new devices.
Maptuit's next generation in-truck environment includes:
* In-vehicle real-time turn-by-turn directions
* Textual, graphical and text-to-speech information presentation
* High quality truck specific routing and directions (includes fuel optimization)
* Rapid rerouting
* Truck specific points-of-interest
* Current traffic and weather conditions
* On-device exception alarming (i.e. if a truck is stuck in traffic and is going to miss a delivery window)
